And overall, I feel like this is a decent example of search being reliableish. You always have to click on the sources and double check. Please do that because as you can see, it's using text cortex blog as an example. And the pricing on these things are always going to be outdated in comparison to the actual website is. So do not take it for granted what it says here. I would never recommend doing that in any circumstance of any Google search, any AI search. Try it out for yourself, though. I do think it's a decent update to what they have and the fact that it can interact with the internet is a big step forward. Hi, my name is Demetri Bonichi and I'm a content creator, agency owner and AI enthusiast. You're listening to the AI agents podcast brought to you by Jot Form and featuring
our very own CEO and founder Idkin Tank. This is the show where artificial intelligence meets innovation, productivity, and the tools shaping the future of work. Enjoy the show. Claude just dropped web search. Let's talk about it. So, it's funny. I was actually talking to someone in my personal life the other day and I said, "Hey, do you know if Claude can do web search? I pay attention to this stuff, but I know you use Claude." And they said to me, "No, no, you can't." And it was really annoying when I had the thought. Then I went, "Oh, wait a second." 2 days later when I saw a LinkedIn post that acknowledged it. So, as you guys can see, there is a new web search function now available with Claude. So, it was released on March 20th, and it's available for those of us on the
paid plan in the US. All you need to do in order to turn it on is literally go into your account and press enable web search. It should be there. There's an analysis tool and a web search tool in there. You also can see over here it says to get started, toggle on web search in your profile settings. So, you can go over to your profile settings and turn it on. I really like this. It's a very nice update, especially for when you use the concise functionality here. So, for example, let's talk about the weather in Chicago. Let's go checking weather in Chicago. As the other day when I tested it, it didn't have an answer. But now since it's on, it searches for it. And yes, the answer to your question is, yeah, I live in Chicago. Yes. Was there up to 50 mph
gusts of winds? Of course there was, cuz it's the winter time. It's the spring. Both of those things are mutual terms in Chicago. And look at that weather. It was bad. It was like, oh, it was sunny in the morning. And then it became rainy thunderstorms and 50 mph winds. We've essentially had this for weeks now. And you know what? I'm just grateful it's not 5°. But enough about the weather. This is nice. I can actually interact with this and talk about the news. Like for example, who won the Oscars award for best actress this year? I should have said Academy Award, but as you can see, it's going to look it up. Mikey Mickey Madison. And it says Mickey Madison won it for Anora. So, and you can see there are results here. So, let me just click on this and it's going to
have the results. Oh, wow. Nice. It says so. So, I don't actually know who that is. I'm curious. Can it answer questions and show me? Can you show me a picture of Mickey Madison? And I actually don't even know the movie in Aura. I wasn't really going to the movies this year. So, okay. So, it can't show me images directly. Can you give me links to her IBDM? IMDb, whatever it's called. IMDb. Sorry. It figured out that I was wrong. So, this is her page. So, I can see who she is. Oh. Oh, you know what? I do recall her from a couple of different things. She's been in obviously that a once a time in Hollywood I remember her from I think some of these shows look familiar to me but okay this makes sense now this is nice but probably a lot of
you are wondering what is Anthropic using here for claude search what so I I can actually I'm curious what it's going to tell me inside if I ask I was about to Google it I don't need to do that what web search engine is anthropic using for Claude's web search cuz I don't think it's Google I remember seeing that it was from Brave. Actually, I hear the wind in the background. Ah, I was right. Brave. Okay. So, now this is based off of a TechCrunch article that says anthropic subprocessor list and identical search results appearing in Claude and Brave. So, I really am curious what your thoughts are on this everybody cuz Chacht essentially uses a fine-tuned model to search Google and then have responses based off the fine-tuned model. I don't know how y'all feel about Brave. I used to use Brave as a
browser and I didn't really use the Brave search functionality. It's okay. So, if I go to Brave search, it's funny. I'm going to Google Brave search to go to Brave search. Uh, you know, I could look up something like um what's I'm going to ask the exact same question and you'll notice the results are going to be very similar. So, if I say things like what web search engines Enthropic using for Cloud's web search, I mean, it's a decent search capability. It looks like Google. It's got this AI preview. They're all doing this now. So, it's saying it's powered by Brave Search, which is decently quick and accurate. I'm actually going to ask Claude, what is the ranking by search engine for Braves capabilities and reliability according to sources and maybe we want to give it a explanatory adjustment here so I can get an
actual example. Okay. Allegedly, this isn't going to be personalized. That's what Brave does. That's better. It has transparency in ranking which is good. So I guess I should ask in a concise manner. Why would Anthropics Claude have more benefit using Brave unlike Google for its web search partner? Privacy alignment. Unlike Google, it's built for tracking and data. Brave search prioritizes privacy. That's fair. Independence from big tech. That's fair. That does kind of fit with Claude's vision and who they are. Ecosystem diversification. Yeah. They say chat GPT uses Bing. They they use both. Uh that's this isn't accurate. Brave search engine unbiased technical integration. Okay. So that's interesting. Now what I do want to check since it's not the same experience as CHBT cuz I have to enable search or not. What if I just want to ask it a basic question that's not anything to
do with an interaction in the same way. So let's let's talk about this. I want to say what are the three best ways I can use claude according to your information and I'm trying to be specific so that it doesn't search and you can see it doesn't search. So you have to kind of prompt it to to do that. So it seems to understand based on your prompt the search capabilities and that used to happen with chatbt before the button was in place. So I'm sure they'll have an on and off option for just pressing it. So, let's just say, "Can you search the internet for three best ways I can use Claude?" That was poor English, but I told it to search the web, and it did search the web. And it said best ways to use Claude AI assistant productivity. That wasn't even
good English, but that's okay. Content creation and writing, data analysis and summarization, which we have other videos talking about, and workplace automation and productivity. Okay, cool. Uh, let's ask another question just to see if it's on bias. If you had to choose from a price perspective, which would be the better product to use via API, CHPT or CL? The answer better be correct here. So, it it doesn't know and it tells you I'd need to search. 3.7 costs three per million tokens. So, Claude 3 Haiku. So, let's check API pricing. This doesn't feel accurate. So maybe I need to add ask a more specific question. So 2.5 bucks. So 40 is similar to its haik coup. So let's say 40. So let's say what about 4.0 mini chatebt verse claude 3 haiku cuz definitely this is the cheapest option and what a lot of companies
are using. Okay, good. So I pointed out the three 40 mini is more cheap. So what about for O verse claude 3.5 sonnet is this okay it is being unbiased so far what I'm seeing I just want to make sure with these things okay so it's good to know that 3.5 sonnet is more cost effective however the number's wrong it's $10 per million tokens 40 so just going to point that out it is wrong and I'm going to check oh it's looking oh interesting let's check claw API pricing 3.5. Okay, it doesn't even have 3.5 sonnet on here. It only has 3.5 haik coup. So, it wasn't using So, this is interesting. It also has a higher context window than what you get out of chatt. So, so actually really good news is it did catch the context window size. It's the 200k versus 125k
to context windows and claude's larger context window is better for document analysis test. So, this is good to know. I've used Claude recently in the API and I do find it a little bit better for larger context things. So, this is good. We like this. And overall, I feel like this is a decent example of search being that cuz as you can see, it's using text core text blog as an example. And the actual website is. So, do not take it for granted what it says here. I would never recommend doing that in any circumstance of any Google search, any AI search. Try it out for yourself though. I do think it's a decent update to what they have and the fact that it can interact with the internet is a big step forward. Now, what's going to be interesting is to see when it
ends up being an API available thing because Chad GBT is releasing that with the responses API. So, I want to see when you can do that via, you know, the API soon, I'd hope. This is going to open up a whole new world when it comes to automations and AI agents, which is a big reason why I'm pointing it out. If you take this or any different AI model and pair it with search and pair it with a knowledge base, that's essentially AI agentic. When you don't have that, it's essentially just an automation with step-by-step sequences. But when it has the ability to search unique things, it then can run away with the news and that would essentially, you know, do content strategy or research on any number of topics. So, I really recommend you keep an eye out by subscribing to this podcast as
well as leaving us a like on the YouTube channel and a review on Apple Podcast/Spotify so you can stay up to date with everything that we're doing here and inform you when there is an update to search functionality in the API. So, that being said, thank you so much for watching and we'll see you in the next episode. Bye.
